Courses
Studying Creative Writing is not a good idea, it does not matter what kind of college you attend. There are several main reasons:
1) Any job that you would be able to get with a Creative Writing degree could be more adequately prepared for with an English degree. Qualifying with an English degree is far from a highly employable field. You are much better off keeping your writing on the backburner, as an activity for your evenings and weekends while you work a day job to pay the bills. 2) In terms of the craft itself, many authors and students alike have spoken out against taking an academic stance towards creative writing. Many find that taking classes actually stymies creativity and turns passion into work. Taking a few courses to learn about the writing craft wouldn't hurt, but an entire degree focused on it is too much.
